Privacy policy

AwaazPro locks your phone with your voice and helps you find it by clapping or whistling. This policy says what the app and our server do with your information. AwaazPro is published by Natural Devs ("we").

In short: what the app hears stays on your phone. Audio is never recorded, never stored and never sent to us or anyone else. Your phrases and your PIN never leave your phone. Our server keeps only what it needs to run your account and your subscription.

What stays on your phone

  • Audio. The app uses the microphone only while a feature that needs it is switched on: voice lock, the clap and whistle finder, or setup. It processes the sound on your phone as it arrives, to spot your phrases, claps and whistles. Audio never leaves your phone and is never stored, on the phone or anywhere else.
  • Your phrases and your PIN. Your lock, unlock and find phrases are recognised by a speech model that runs on your phone. The phrases and your PIN stay on the phone: we never receive them, and they are left out of phone backups. The PIN is kept only as a salted hash, encrypted with a key held in Android's keystore.
  • Recovery code, screen lock and fingerprint. Your recovery code is shown once and kept on your phone only as a salted hash, like your PIN. If your phone keeps its own screen lock and you use it, or your fingerprint, to confirm it's you, Android checks it. The app learns only whether it matched.
  • Your history and settings. The list of recent claps, whistles and unlocks stays on your phone. Your finder settings (such as how many claps) can be part of your phone's own Android backup, if you use one; your phrases, your PIN and the lock itself never are.
  • The speech model. The app downloads its speech-recognition model once, from the Vosk project's server (alphacephei.com) or from ours. Like any download, the request shows that server your IP address. Nothing you say is sent.

What our server keeps

  • Your account. When you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile photo link and account ID. Google is the only way to sign in.
  • Your subscription. Razorpay's references for your UPI Autopay mandate and each payment, with the amounts, dates and status. Razorpay and your UPI app handle the payment itself; we never see your UPI PIN or bank details.
  • Your IP address and device user agent (the text that identifies your phone's software), recorded when you start a subscription, to measure our ads with Meta (below).
  • Where the app came from. Google Play's install referrer, which says whether an ad or the Play Store led to the install, and the app version.
  • A notification token from Firebase Cloud Messaging, so we can send your phone notifications.
  • Diagnostics about your phone, unless you switch them off (Profile → Share anonymous diagnostics). Once a day the app sends your phone's maker, model and Android version, its memory size and whether it has a screen lock; how you have set AwaazPro up (lock mode, phrase language, finder settings, which permissions are on); and counts of how it worked that day, such as locks and unlocks by voice or PIN, how long unlocking took, finder alarms and how they ended, and how often Android stopped the app in the background. They come with a random ID made for this install (not your phone's advertising ID) and, if you are signed in, your account ID. They never include audio, anything you said, your phrases, your PIN or anything you typed. We use them to learn which phones AwaazPro works best on and what to fix.
  • Server logs. Like any web server, ours records the IP address and time of requests, for security and to fix problems.

Analytics and advertising

The app and our server use these services. None of them receives audio, anything you say, your phrases or your PIN.

  • Firebase Analytics (Google): which screens and features are used, and events such as starting a trial. Unless you switch diagnostics off, also your phone's maker and memory class, your lock mode and phrase language, whether the phone has a screen lock, and how often a day unlocking by voice fell back to the PIN. We use it to learn what works and what to fix.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): crash reports with the phone model, the Android version, the lock mode and what the app was doing when it crashed, so we can fix bugs.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google): delivers our notifications.
  • Meta (Facebook) SDK and Conversions API: app events such as installs, trials and purchases, so we can measure and improve our ads on Facebook and Instagram. When your first monthly payment goes through, our server tells Meta about the purchase with your email address, name and account ID in hashed form (SHA-256), and the IP address and user agent above. Meta's SDK may also use your phone's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings (Google, then Ads).

Who else sees your information

Only the services above, Google (sign-in and Google Play), Razorpay (payments) and the company that hosts our server, each for the job described. We do not sell your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you delete it. After that we keep only the payment records Indian tax and accounting law requires (amounts, dates and Razorpay references), for as long as it requires, with nothing that identifies you: no name, email address, IP address or device details. Your phone's daily diagnostics are kept to compare phones over time; when you delete your account they are unlinked from it and keep only the random install ID.

Deleting your account

  • In the app: Profile → Delete account. Your subscription is cancelled so nothing more is charged, your account and everything listed above that identifies you is deleted, and only the payment records the law needs are kept, without you in them.
  • By email: write to admin@awaazpro.com from the email address you signed in with. See Delete your account.
  • On your phone: your phrases, PIN and history are only on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, removes them.

Your choices

You can turn off voice lock and the finder at any time; the microphone is then not used. You can also withdraw the microphone, notification and "display over other apps" permissions in Android's settings; the features that need them stop working. You can switch off the phone diagnostics in Profile → Share anonymous diagnostics: the app then sends none, deletes the ones it has not sent yet, and forgets its install ID.
